WHY MAKE YOUR OWN WIPES INSTEAD OF BUYING READY-MADE WET WIPES?
Ready-made wet wipes contain several substances that are best avoided on sensitive children's and baby skin. For example, preservatives, which can cause allergies or disrupt the skin barrier.
The most common preservatives in wet wipes include various types of parabens such as butylparaben, propylparabens and methylparaben, as well as substances like methylisothiazolinone, and acids like citric acid and benzoic acid, as well as phenoxyethanol.
Fragrances in wet wipes can also be problematic as they can cause allergies and often contain scent-fixing agents (phthalates) that are suspected of being endocrine disruptors.
Since none of these substances are suitable for baby skin, you can easily make your own healthy and effective wet wipes.
YOU WILL NEED:
- Dry wipes or fabric scraps
- A jar with a tight-fitting lid
- A cleansing oil for sensitive skin, such as our Baby Oil.
- Boiled water
HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN WIPES:
- Boil about 3-4 dl of water.
- Mix in 2 tablespoons of oil (e.g. Baby Oil) and stir.
- Place the wipes in the jar and pour the mixture over them. Make sure the wipes absorb the liquid properly.
- Pour off excess water and close the lid, ensuring it is airtight.
- The wipes will last for about a week.
Alternatively, you can use dry wipes and oil directly in the bathroom. Just wet the wipe under the tap, wring it out, and add a few drops of oil - done!
